There will be no September 26 Regular Meeting.
The Portsmouth Port & Industrial Commission waterfront port and industrial sites boat tour has been rescheduled due to inclement weather for October 11th from 9:00-11:00am. Because of the venue, members of the public will not be able to attend the tour. A member of the press will be in attendance. The Commission will not take any vote or other formal public action while on the tour.
The Portsmouth Port & Industrial Commission (PPIC) was specifically created for Portsmouth by the Virginia General Assembly in 1954. The PPIC is comprised of seven (7) City Council-appointed Commissioners serving staggered five-year (5) terms.
The General Assembly has granted the Portsmouth Port & Industrial Commission the authority to: acquire, own, lease and dispose of property; acquire, construct, develop, maintain and operate wharves, docks and piers; borrow money, incur debt and issue bonds; acquire, construct, maintain and operate commercial, manufacturing and governmental facilities, and sell, convey or lease same; and condemn property for public use.
